Materials:  1 1" Styrofoam Ball    2 8"-9" 22 Guage wire    Elmer's or white glue    Wall paper Paste
                  Washi Paper    Water color and brushes
****Hand torn only, no scissors in order to prevent a hard edge where pieces overlaid.
These miniatures are 3-1/2" ~ 4-1/2" tall.

1. 1" styrofoam ball. (Figure 1)
2. Shave both side with knife.

3. Press down with finger tips to make a
    shape of head.
HEAD:
NECK:
Glue a tightly rolled strip of Washi paper (Figure 4), after it dries cut diagonally, put white glue, attatch to nap of head. (Figure 5)

Cover several layers with hand torn glued Washi paper.

NOSE: Use a round bead with a clothes pin for
the nose.

BODY FRAME:
Wrap around with 3/8" wide hand torn strips to wire, Add more layers for thicker body frame. (Figure 7)

Shape the wire.(Figure 8) Wrap around body, arm, leg areas (Fig.9),
add more layers of glued paper for hands and feet.

* Wrap around cotton (2 cotton balls). (Figure 13)
* Use 1/2" hand torn, glued on Washi paper to wrap around the
   body, at least 2 layers. For the chubby body, use a little more
   cotton.

Using the sharp knife, slice the neck. (Figure 11)
Put white glue on the middle top section of body frame, slip down the head.

HAIR:
Heavily glue both sides of the strip of paper. Hand cut short lengths of Washi paper, secure one end to the head. Start from the back side and finish the top side last. (Figure 15)

Water color them! (Figure 16) Paint the face.
CLOTHES:
I use the tear and patch technique since the figurine is so small. Washi paper makes it possible to make invisible seams. A FANTASTIC material to work with.
Use leftover Washi Paper rolled wire for wings(Figure 17). Have fun with different shapes.
