MAKING THE SHAPE:
Fig.3 Fig.5
Fig.1 Fig.2
Fig.4
1. Cut 4-10" x 10" or 4- 12" x 12" sections from the roll of wire mesh. (Fig, 1)
2. Stretch across the mesh wire & push down in the middle to make a half bowl shape. (Fig. 2)
3. Make a shape for the neck area where it will wrap around the lamp's neck. It should be
at least 1-1/2" long.  (Fig. 3) (Fig. 4)
4. If you wish, you may cut the mesh wire with scissors to change the shape. (Fig. 5)
5. A side view should be varied in order to have more interesting shapes.
PASTING:
Fig. 7 Fig. 8 Fig. 9
Fig. 6
Fig. 10
1. Hand tear pattern paper. Use the area that has lines & letters which will give a more exciting
overall desigh. (Fig. 6) (Fig. 7)
2. Also you can use cut out magazines (Fig. 8), Washi paper (Fig. 9) or your choice of paper.
3. Dip the cut out paper in glue (equal parts of water and glue) and paste on one side of the wire mesh
(Fig. 10A). Let it dry, then cover the other side (Fig. 10B).
TIP:
LAMP POST:
When you paste down glued paper, use two damp cloths, one on the underside, the other one to press down the glued paper. (Fig. 11)  It will help the paper to bond better and prevent glued paper from sticking to your fingers.
Use cut outs from magazines, colored paint, wood stain, etc. Whichever method you like, go for it!
