Colorful display of Han-Ji (Washi paper) stores in Seoul Korea.
'Han-Ji (Washi paper)', Korea's traditional paper has been famous in the surrounding countries and called in the purely Korean word 'Dak-paper' because it was made out of 'Dak' (mulberry bark).

They are not sure of the exact origin date of Han-Ji but from the paper excavated in Bangmatan which was produced around BC 2 century (Chian Moon Dynasty, 179-141 B.C.) to be the oldest existing paper, they assume around that stage paper production technology has been introduced to us.

Since the days of antiquity, the name of Han-Ji was called differently according to its color, size and producing district. They can typically divide Han-Ji by its material, production method, usage and its size. And according to classification, they have roughly 200 different kinds of paper.

With these various kinds of paper, its main usage was to write letters and draw pictures. And also among the general public it was used as various living goods made through creative art technique and decorative art to express its beauty.
Recently, I started dyeing Washi Paper with clothes dye. What I like about my own paper is that I can get very nice pastel colors and in the process of dyeing the paper gets thicker and crinkles very nicely. On top of that, I don't have easy access to colored paper here in Austin.
