When I started working with Washi paper I had some difficulty along the way mastering this medium. The only instruction book on Washi paper I was able to find did not have any step by step instructions and it took some time to perfect the technique for handling Washi paper so that I was pleased with the end result.

After I made a few sculptures and felt confident about my technique, I decided to share what I have learned with other people who are interested in paper art.  I've tried to make the instructions clear and easy to follow.  That was my first Washi paper sculpture tutorial.  Since then I have added several more tutorials such as penguins, styrofoam dolls and miniature figurines.  I'm planning to add more tutorials in the near future whenever I come up with other neat, easy to make paper project ideas.

I hope these tutorials have been of some help to all of you. If so, I will be very happy.

About my work:

I do not use molds or precut shapes.  Most of these sculptures are made with mulberry paper (Washi paper or Rice paper).  I use pre-dyed paper or I dye white Washi paper myself (
Dyeing & coloring Washi paper) since the colored paper is very difficult to find in the Austin area.  The Washi paper I purchased in Korea is hand made and acid free.  This paper is very strong and flexible so I use it for the children's clothes.
