MATERIALS:
Carson 70 lb, & 90 Lb, Water Color Paper,  1 8"x 10" Shadow box with mat,  Tracing paper,  Paper Craft Glue,  X-acto knife with #12 or #16 blades,  Self-Healing cutting board,  1'4" thick Styrofoam mat board (Get the quarter size),  Tooth pick,  Tweezer,  Embossing tool (Knitting needle, Wood burnisher).
PREPARING:
Figure 1 Figure 2 Figure 3 Figure 4
Figur5 Figure 6
1.  Print out Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3.
2.  Using B or B2 pencil, trace Fig 1 & Fig 2 on the tracing paper including numbers.
3.  Trace Fig 3 on Carson 90 Lb Water color paper, using light table or window pan (Figure 4).
4.  Face penciled side down of Fig 2 on the 70 Lb Water color paper, secure with tape, rub down along the pencil
lines, lift the corner of tracing paper to check that all the lines and numbers are copied (Figure5).
**Stem, #7 on Figure 2 should be copied on 90 Lb paper for better support.
5.  Use X-acto knife to cut out all the pieces (Figure 6). Erase all the pencil lines except numbers. This will save
time when you are doing a more complicated job.
EMBOSSING:
Embossing tools
Figure 8 Figure 9 Figure 10
Figure 7
1.  See an example for the veins (Figure 7). Do the veins on the leaves and petals. (Figure 8)
2.  Hold a piece as in Figure 9 while pressing down between your thumb and the needle, making a
curving motion around the needle for a stem. (Figure 10)
ASSEMBLE:
Figure 16
Figure 11 Figure 12 Figure 13 Figure 14
Figure 15
1.  Lay down the "BASE" on the cutting board, secure with small sized tape, Figure 11.
2.  Lay down traced Figure 1 right side up, maching the "BASE", secure together with tape, Figure 12.
3.  Dab glue on the stem head, lay on the "BASE", Figure 13.
4.  After dabbing glue on a petal, put on the BASE in the general position, Then flip down tracing paper.
You can see through the tracing paper a petal. When it is in the proper position, press down on the tracing
paper very gently, Figure 14 and Figure 14a.

PASTING ORDER:
1.  #1, 2, 3, 4. Use spacer on 5, 6 (Figure 15). This will give a volume.
2.  Put #8,* 9, 10, 11 & 12. Before you put #9, cut red lined area with X-acto knife, Figure 16. The green area
will be the underside of #8. Add more spacer on the base, Figure 14.
3.  Put 13 & 14 together first. Glue on the top side of the edge on 15, put it down, same way with 16.  After it
dries, put #13 #14  pieces on the position.
FINISHING:
Figure 17
Figure 18
1.  Remove from the cutting board a completed one (I used a tweezer). Figure 17
2.  Turn the bottom side up Add SPACER (Figure 18).
3.  After glue is dry, add leaves, add spacer on the leaves.
4.  You can mount on a pre-cut mat. Make sure it is in the right position first, then
mark down with pencil very lightly before gluing down permanently.
How to mount on the pre-cut mat. See on 3-D Flower FINISH section.
I used hand dyed Washi paper for the background just for fun!
MAKE YOUR OWN TOOL:
I used an aluminum knitting needle for my embossing tool. Using medium grade sand paper, rub the needle on sand paper along the angle of a needle, while turning the needle between the thumb and forefinger. Make sure not to make too sharp a point. I rolled a 3"wide paper towel on until it felt comfortable to hold. Now you have  2 different sizes of embossing tools.
